Hello Alabama (8th September)

The day dawns fine for our last morning in Mississippi. There is mist as we go through the pine forests but that soon disappears. Our last attraction in Mississippi is a back scratching pole, which Ronald Regan used on a visit. Yes, we really do see the best of the best on our tours! We say bye bye Mississippi and head into Alabama, and things don't start off too well. The Welcome Centre is closed, and as we start on our scenic driving tour, the cafe in the "Seafood Capital of Alabama" is closed. we do stop at the boardwalk along the bay, and some of it is still standing!! Not a good start. But at least we arrive in plenty of time to catch the ferry ....... did I say ferry? Oh no, it has broken down! So a drive all the way around the bay, using interstates and toll roads, gets us to our lunch spot, Doc's Seafood and Oyster Bar. Not quite the relaxing day that was planned. Things have to get better .... and they do. We see the fiberglass version of Stonehenge, some dinos and a nice looking lady in the lake. As I said earlier, only the best of attractions on this tour!! And our day ends at a Veterans monument, though I have missed the blue paper clip. We head across Mobile for our 2 night stay.
