B B King and the Blues (3rd September)

We start in B B King's home town of Indianola. His hand and foot prints can be found near the corner of the street he started playing on in his early years. Plus they have a Museum dedicated to his life and music. So very interesting. We move onto Leland, and this is the birthplace of Kermit the Frog. Jim Henson was born and raised in this town and you can see where he got his inspiration from in the swamps. We visit Dockery Plantation, the birth place of the blues, based on the number of early blues performers who came from the plantation and how they drew their inspiration from the early singing / chanting in the fields as the share croppers planted and harvested their cotton. Cleveland also has the Airport Grocery, a diner / bar paying homage to the blues and the past. Our host at our lunch stop suggest we can see a Juke Joint near by. These are ramshackle blues places only open a few days a week where amateurs and professionals can perform. We see the Poor Monkey Lounge. The evening is in a Blues Bar in Clarksdale, the Ground Zero. The kid (yes he is 15 years old) can sure play that guitar. Amazing. And the place is just covered by graffiti so we add ours to the rest!
