Full on sight seeing day today. And maybe a taste of some of the exceptional foods on offer!. A coffee at Starbucks woke us up, then off on a bus tour of New Orleans. Through the French Quarter, then out to some of the areas devastated by Cyclone Katrina. A stop at the Cemetery showed the burials above ground, and the City Park allowed us to stretch our legs plus have a look at the sculpture that New Orleans has accumulated. Then back through the Garden District before we were dropped off near our lunch destination. The ACME Oyster House had the best char grilled oysters you have ever tasted. Then we caught the streetcar to Mardi Gras World, which builds a number of the floats for the Mardi Gras parades. There are currently 50 Krewes so there are 50 parades during the 2 weeks of Mardi Gras. Then we changed to go to dinner at Galatoire's Restaurant. What a people watching place it is. Lovely food. We then caught the streetcar back "home".
These pictures bring back great memories of Nola except for the Starbucks coffee Yuck !!! Yes New Orleans is a great place to people watch and great food very different to back home... Don't forget to do some karaoke lol ....
ReplyDeleteNothing beats the coffee back home. If you do go to Starbucks get a Cafe Americano with a little heavy whipping cream. You can also ask for this iced. I find the lattes etc are just like drinking hot milk. Americano is the strongest and at least it tastes like coffee
