Gospel, Church and Fine Food (24th August)

We rise at a reasonable hour to visit the French Market, similar stalls to a small Vic Market. Though the food options have a lot to be desired. We then move onto the highlight of the day, a gospel brunch at the House of Blues. A buffet style spread with breakfast and lunch items on the menu. Can't quite get into the Southern Fried chicken at that hour of the morning but the waffles, fruit, cream and maple syrup go down quite well! Plus the champagne cocktails that are served all morning!!! The gospel "show" is awesome, the singing and music really great. Afterwards we finish our walking tour of the French Quarter with a visit to the Cathedral, and a house of Tennessee Williams. Once we have finished we make our way to the Voodoo Museum and then to Congo Square where many a ritual takes place. It is very hot so a slow walk back to the streetcar and back to the cool of the room. This evening dining is at Arnaud's, a Creole menu with spice and seafood (read oysters). Plus a 3 piece Jazz Band that can play Waltzing Matilda and Still Call Australia Home. A full day for our last in New Orleans.
